The city that never sleeps.....

My story begins in Dubai during end of 1998....

My preconceived notions about the Middle East was so different, and Dubai was a total surprise. With It's extremely modern skyscrapers, cutting-edge malls, the world's first seven-star hotels and lots of tourism.....

And the most surprising-only some 30 percent of the city's families are Arab; about 40 percent are from India, and about 20 percent are expatriate Westerners. The three main cultural groups operate almost as parallel societies; while they shop in the same malls and eat in the same restaurants, the three rarely interact.........!!!

Note it, they rarely interact.

With more than 150 nationalities and almost as many expressions of culture, Dubai has been selling dreams for decades....

Arabs celebrate it as a model of Arab accomplishment-
westerners embrace it for the endless sunshine and luxury lifestyle....
and I would like to call it "the best-run Indian City"
